Elena Costella
Elena is the knitting designer who agreed to give professional advice to individual knitters and to the planning group of 'Knitting a Nation'. She is helping to block the individual pieces, and to assemble and back our completed map.
Elena was born in Dundee, where she still lives, and attended the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design. She was a journalist (Knitting Editor) for 31 years with DC Thompson of Dundee. She then started her own design business and opened her studio in Perth in 2011. She started knitting aged 3 and hasn't stopped since! Knitting is her passion and has travelled the world both for work and pleasure in pursuit of gathering more knitting knowledge.
Regarding Knitting the Nation, Elena says: "I’m not politically minded, but love the idea of knitting bringing the women of Scotland together. Since getting involved in ‘Knitting a Nation’ I’ve taken time to consider what I want for my country and will be voting yes!"
